A diverse farming and ranching industry has been part of Marlin’s history since the founding of the town in 1851. Thousands of acres of fertile land offer farmers and ranchers the perfect environment for everything from cattle to cotton. Marlin has its own Hospital with emergency room, 3,000 ft. lighted airport for private planes, is served by the Union Pacific railroad, has an industrial park/enterprise zone, has been a Texas Main Street City for over 10 years and in the process of upgrading its entire water treatment facility utilizing the latest technology in membrane filtration systems.

A Strong Community

Strong school spirit makes for exciting Friday night light action as the Marlin Bulldogs defend their multiple district wins. The Palace Theatre is a community playhouse featuring plays and dinner theaters throughout the year. The Marlin County Club plays host to Texas’ longest running two-man low-ball tournament. Marlin’s new public library features a collection of nearly 15,000 books, 8 public use computers with high speed internet and email access, a children’s room and computer classroom. There are many community events that happen throughout the year in Marlin; The Wood Street Blues Festival, Markets on Main Street, Christmas and Home Coming Parades, Old Homes Tour and the Historic Churches Tour all provide many options for family fun.

Historically Healthy

Marlin has been recognized by the Texas House of Representatives as the official “Mineral Water City of Texas”. The Falls Museum provides history seekers with interesting facts and items regarding Marlin’s rich history in agriculture and as one of the South’s largest health resorts. Marlin’s many social organizations provide community involvement for any interest including the state’s oldest musical club, now in its 107th year.
